Cresent Home Furnishings® began in 1947 on the Public Square in Gallatin. Charles Tomkins opened a retail furniture store that, like many stores in small town America, sold all types of Home Furnishings. The products ranged from kerosene lanterns and vinyl rugs to "Dutchess" metal dinette suites and "Warm Morning" gas stoves. After several years of searching for affordable, high quality solid wood furniture for his customers, he set out to manufacture the type of furniture he felt his customers deserved. As the manufacturing operation grew the retail store relocated to Nashville and became Cresent Wholesale Distributors. We operated as a showroom and resource for hundreds of small dealers across middle Tennessee, Kentucky and Alabama. Our location at 1009 3rd Ave. N. became known as the place to shop for high quality, reasonably priced home furnishings.
As the furniture industry was changing in the mid-1980's so did Cresent. We went back to our origins and became a full line retail operation. In 1991 we remodeled the store at our Third Ave. location and opened an addition that over doubled our showroom space.

Cresent continued to grow along with Nashville. In 2003 we opened our second location in the Cool Springs area. In order to better reflect our core retail business, we updated our name to Cresent Home Furnishings®. In 2004 we expanded again and doubled the size of our Cool Springs showroom. As we enter our sixth decade, the third generation of our family is taking the reigns of our business. We are dedicated to changing with the times, to offer the highest quality to value ratio , and to remain:
